Spence Hoole – Managing Partner

Spencer has been in the Property and Casualty Insurance industry for the past ten years. He has spent the better part of his career working with and insuring technology and publicly traded companies. He specializes in software errors and omissions insurance, communications liability and directors and officers’ liability coverages, especially at the IPO stage.

Spencer helped develop and run Aon Technology Group, Aon’s national technology practice until 2001, when he acquired the business of Aon Risk Services of Utah with Joe Henriod.

Spencer is actively involved in the technology industry. He was one of several founding members of the Summit D&O Training Conference (www.summitconf.com) and is an active contributor to the Investors Choice West Venture Capital Conference, serving as a company mentor. In addition, he has spoken to a number of organizations and associations, including international groups, on protecting and insuring the assets of technology and emerging growth companies

Joe Henriod – Principal

Twenty years of experience in the Property and Casualty Insurance industry. Executive VP of ITA Insurance for 15 years until ITA was acquired by Aon Corporation. ITA specialized in risk management solutions for the information technology industry. Worked for Aon Corporation as Executive VP and Managing Director of Aon Risk Services, Inc. of Utah until 2001. Acquired the Aon Risk Services of Utah business along with Spencer Hoole in July, 2001, and formed Diversified Insurance Technology Group.

Steve Handley – Principal

Steve has spent the past 18 years developing and managing commercial insurance programs for organizations across the United States.

Steve’s specific expertise is in the Workers’ Compensation, Employment Practices Liability, and Professional Liability arenas. Steve has worked with large, sophisticated organizations in a variety of industries, taking a very proactive approach in designing and managing property and casualty insurance programs to meet the unique needs of each client.

Steve’s experience in negotiating and managing insurance programs has prepared him to anticipate and satisfy client needs and demands across all lines of commercial insurance. His technical approach to account management coupled with his outstanding ability to break down and communicate complex issues have proven to be a valuable asset to his clients.

Matt Henriod – Principal

Over the last 20 years, Matt’s brokering experience has included, program design, marketing, promotion, sales and risk management services to a diverse group of clients in the intermountain area. In addition to providing property and casualty and risk management services to clients, Matt was instrumental in creating a specialty errors and omissions insurance program for computer resellers that was marketed throughout the United States and Canada.

Jeana Hutchings – Principal – Benefits Practice Group Leader

Jeana has twenty years of healthcare industry, employee benefit consulting, managed care sales, provider and carrier experience. She is an expert in plan evaluation, benefit strategy, underwriting Analysis and renewal experience. She has deep experience in Benefit plan implementation and compliance and administration assistance. Jeana is also fluent in Spanish.

Sean Oliver – Principal – Benefits Group Operations Manager

Sean has over 8 years of healthcare industry experience, including large group medical underwriting and employee benefits consulting. He has experience working with clients of all sizes, including large national employers. He is an expert in plan design, underwriting analysis, self-funding evaluation, and benefit strategy. He has excellent technical abilities, including database design/maintenance, financial analysis, and medical experience analysis and reporting. Prior to joining Diversified Benefit Services Group, Sean’s career includes a total of 8 years with Mercer Human Resource Consulting in Utah, Towers Perrin in Connecticut, and SelectHealth in Utah.

Jeff Utz – Principal

At Diversified Insurance, Jeff is the resident expert in large workers compensation insurance programs with a specific expertise in crafting workers compensation programs for the PEO industry. Jeff has been actively involved in NAPEO since 1993 and currently sits on the Board for Workers’ Compensation Certification Institute. He has also published several articles for the PEO Insider and ProEmp Journal.

Jeff has been working in the insurance industry since 1989 after graduating with a finance degree from Miami University. He began his career with Great American insurance Company working in both the Cincinnati home office and in Salt Lake City as a field underwriter and marketing lead. He has also worked for a large regional insurance brokerage firm and developed an expertise in the alternative staffing industry.
