DIG Cares Initiative

To mark the 20th anniversary at Diversified Insurance, we wanted to give back to the community that has given us so much. To do that, we picked a different service organization for each month of the year. We wanted to pick a wide variety of organizations that are doing impactful things in the community. Looking back on 2021, it was a very meaningful way for us an organization to celebrate this milestone. We were able to learn more about why Utah is such a wonderful place to be headquartered and feel like we were part of this great community.

Here is an overview of the service organizations we worked with throughout the year:

January: Utah Refugee Connection – Donated 79 essential all-purpose kits

Utah Refugee Connection creates meaningful connections between refugees, the community, and public and private organizations that support refugees in developing self-sufficient and fulfilling lives. 

February: Tabitha’s Way Food Pantry – Donated 119 Food and women’s hygiene items

Tabitha’s Way Local Food Pantry helps families and individuals through tough times by
(1) providing temporary food assistance,
(2) recommending resources for self-reliance,
(3) helping neighbors to help neighbors.

March: SLCO Animal Shelter– Donated $600 in food, toys, cleaning supplies, beds, and treats

Salt Lake County Animal Services is the largest NO-KILL municipal shelter in Utah. They have had a commitment to operating a “no-kill” facility since 2011. 

YWCA – Completed two days of campus cleanup

The YWCA works to eliminate racism and empower women.

April: Aspen House – donated $3,810

Aspen House is a Utah-based organization that works directly with women who have been victims of human trafficking and sexual exploitation in Utah. Through healing, dignity, and opportunity, Aspen House empowers these women to become self-sufficient and healthy again. They provide a holistic approach to recovery with a home-like residency, counseling, education, and most importantly, LOVE.

May: 4th Street Clinic – Donated 56 water bottles, 32 hats, 38 sunscreens, $25

Fourth Street Clinic helps Utahns experiencing homelessness improve their health and quality of life by providing high-quality health care and support services.

June: Utah Pride Center – Completed 48 hours of volunteer service

Utah Pride unites, empowers, and celebrates Utah’s diverse LGBTQ+ community by providing a safe and welcoming space for education, partnerships, services, and events that advance our collective health, wellness, and success.

July: Red Cross – Missing Maps project – Completed 30 hours of volunteer service

Missing Maps is an open, collaborative project in which you can help to map areas where humanitarian organizations are trying to meet the needs of people who live at risk of disasters and crises.

August: Success in Education – Donated $10,000 plus 23 volunteer hours

The mission of Success in Education is to increase literacy and motivate students academically by working with schools to reward student achievement.

September: Make a Wish Foundation – Wish Reveal Party for Daisy

The mission at the Make a Wish Foundation is to create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Diversified hosted a Criminal Minds themed wish reveal party for Daisy and her friends and family. You can read more about the event here.

October: Make a Wish Fundraiser for Pie in the Face – $2,000 raised.

November: Thanksgiving Heroes – $3,310 raised to serve.

Thanksgiving Heroes is a nonprofit organization with a simple mission to rally thousands of troops of volunteers across Utah to feed families in need full meals on Thanksgiving.

December: Set up luminaries at Wasatch Lawn – 15 hours of volunteer service

Every December, dozens of volunteers set up thousands of luminaries at Wasatch Lawn to remember the lives lost.
